York Police appealing for witnesses after fatal shooting in Vaughan

York Region Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal shooting Friday evening in Vaughan.

Police said officers responded to a call about a shooting in a parking lot of a social club on Regina Road, in the area of Highway 7 and Martin Grove Road, just after 8 p.m.

Const. Andy Pattenden said that an adult male in his 50s was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police have identified the victim as 55-year-old Domenic Triumbari of Vaughan.

Investigators said they are looking for a male suspect wearing dark clothing that fled the scene in a vehicle. Multiple witnesses were interviewed, but investigators are appealing to anyone who may have captured footage on their dash cams or surveillance cameras from neighbouring businesses.

Police believe the victim was targeted.

Caterina Gullone was attending a fundraiser at a banquet hall across from the social club with her two sons when she saw ambulances and fire trucks pull into the parking lot.

“It was very concerning, very scary to actually see what was going on,” Gullone told Global News. “I had two little boys sitting close to the window where it happened.”

Gullone said no one at the fundraiser heard anything because a DJ was playing music at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7865 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

This is the fifth homicide of the year for York Region.
